Spring Cleaning at Sycamore

Spring Cleaning at Sycamore

Well, once again that glorious time is here. The birds are chirping, our clocks have moved forward an hour, and baseball is about to be in full swing. Yup, you guessed it, spring has officially arrived!

Now, depending on where you are in the world, it may not feel like spring weather. We heard about the recent blizzard the eastern part of the United States got (sorry East Coast folks). Here at Sycamore headquarters, the spring weather has also yet to show its brightest day, but nevertheless, March 20 marked the first official day of spring, so even if there are piles and piles of snow in your backyard right now, we promise that the spring weather is on its way!

This got Sycamore thinking about spring cleaning, and what better time to clean up our school management system than now? After all, the thought of trees growing new leaves and flowers blossoming into some of the most beautiful, elegant colors imaginable, always gets us in the mood to do some serious and much-needed spring cleaning.

The first order of business, you ask? That would include Sparkpost and Mailgun. Previously, Sparkpost was our communication outlet for all outgoing email, but that has now changed. In order to make things easier and more convenient for our Sycamore users, Mailgun’s services will now be used for all transactional emails, including: password resets, PAN-to-Email, Admissions Portal Registration, etc. Sparkpost’s services will still be utilized for batch email, but Mailgun is a great asset for us to take the heavy load off Sparkpost’s plate.

What room do we dust up next? We’re thinking the accounting section. You see, spring isn’t only a great time to enjoy the weather and play outside, but it’s also a great time to pay the bills and ensure your accounts are in order (don’t forget about Tax Day on April 17). This led us to believe we needed to clean up a little bit of the Accounting Manager. Accounting configurations within Sycamore have made the enhancements as follows.

  • Include accounts with a zero balance
  • Sort accounts by name or account number
  • Include Childcare and Cafeteria account
  • Show Cafeteria amount due as a positive number

It’s important to note that as much as the spring cleaning helps us, we know it helps our Sycamore users even more. It’s our job to make Sycamore’s school management system as accessible and user-friendly as possible. We hope this spring cleaning session can further check mark those boxes. From our house to yours, we wish you the best of luck in dusting, scrubbing, vacuuming, and whatever other cleaning method your heart desires this spring!
